Spring Favs

Here's a look at all the things I want for the spring season. I honestly can't remember where this is all from since I've been collecting the pictures for awhile. I'm loving (and lusting after) bright colors, seersucker, wedges, scalloped edges, and color blocking. I'm thinking about trying the short trousers too!

Seersucker top

My mom has tons of old patterns, which I love because fashion always comes back around. This particular pattern is from 1986! Did you know anything 20 years old or more is considered vintage? I learned that last week on a fashion blog, sorry can't remember which one. Interesting fact though. So the 90's are considered vintage?!? Well that makes me feel old.

I've been obsessed with seersucker lately. I have 3 different colors of the fabric in my sewing closet right now, so stayed tuned for upcoming projects.

Mix together ingredients and eat with crackers or on a sandwich.
-1 can of Tuna pack in water
-1 tbsp low fat cottage cheese
-1 tsp italian dressing

- salt and pepper to taste

Sewing hat

Considered buying this jem (so-called designer hat) for about 30 seconds until I realized the statement it would make would be much more "80 year old grandma" versus "super chic hat wearing Kate Middleton". Damn.

And it was all Yellow

I have been obsessed with yellow lately. As you recall I wanted to use yellow and gray for our wedding colors. Since we didn't go with that color scheme, I decided I wanted to decorate our place with yellow so I bought some place mats. I have even changed my blog in case you haven't noticed. More changes are on the way for the layout and look of H&H. Now, I have taken it a step further and want to wear yellow all the time. Told ya, I'm obsessed. Yellow is such a bright and fun color which is how I feel with the weather getting warmer and naturally I want to wear it everyday! Here are some of the fun yellow items on my wish list!

White Pique Dress

I feel like I haven't finished a project in a while and this one was soooo close to going in the trash too. I thought this would be so simple when I pinned my idea for the straps on my dress form. No problem. Well the problem is that my form and I actually aren't the same size, even with the dials that change to my measurements. Hmm... I had such difficulty trying to hold the bodice of this dress on with one hand while pinning the straps with the other. I had to pull out stitches so many times and re-sew to get it right. Finally, I just prayed for a miracle and continued on. I really couldn't tell how it would fit until the zipper was in, which is the 2nd to last step in my sewing process. Followed by the hem.

I was pleasantly surprised and did a little cheer when it actually fit! Woohoo!

You may be wondering where my face is? Well I usually have to crop my head out for several reasons, one being that I just returned from the gym which was the case in this picture. There's only so much photoshopping you can do and I thought making myself look tanner was more important than washing my hair.

I wish you could see the texture of the material better in these pictures. If you don't know what pique is, it's a waffle like textured material. Very summery!

Spicy Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork

Do you follow The Pioneer Woman? Well, you definitely should! She has great recipes and witty stories! I made this recipe last week and it was awfully tasty! I changed a few things. Here's Pioneer Woman's recipe and then mine. Only major difference is that I made it in the crock pot.

Spicy Dr. Pepper Shredded Pork
 Ingredients-
- 1 whole large onion
- Pork Butt (shoulder) I used 3-5lbs and that was enough for 3 (2 person) meals. Maybe more.
- Salt and Pepper
- 2 cans (7oz) of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
- 2 cans of Dr. Pepper

Directions-
Cut onion down center. Cut in half again. Place quarters of onion in bottom of crock pot. Throw in your butt. Salt and Pepper to taste. Add Chipotle Peppers and Dr. Pepper. Cook on low all day. Open lid and shred with fork. Serve on tortillas or buns.

**Notes- Pioneer woman uses 1 can (11oz) peppers. I couldn't find that so I used 2 cans and it was REALLY spicy. I would recommend just one can unless you can handle the heat, like I can. Pioneer Woman also rotates her pork, so I did that once too but I don't think it's necessary.

Project: White Pique Dress

Here's a look at the dress I'm working on.

Looks like a first grader drew these huh? Pique (waffle like) material.

White Dress

Not THE white dress, but plenty of others. I want to take the opportunity to wear white to everything this year. Why not? I'm a bride! Woohoo! Yes, I am still basking in the glory and staring at my sparkly ring.

Anyway, I have found so many cute white dresses out right now for Spring and Summer. I am planning to make a few for my showers and possibly engagement pictures. Is it appropriate to wear white to the rehearsal? Or should I just save it for the wedding day?
