Hemmed

I did not make this skirt. But I did hem it up and make it just that much cuter! It's from Banana Republic purchased a few years ago. It fit perfectly but I thought it would look awesome as a mini! It has endless possibilities!

Someone's excited!!

This was taken prior to dress shopping.

I really wanted a sweater (vest) to layer with clothes this fall. I searched everywhere and ended up with this lovely one! It's a size too big, but hey sometimes you have to sacrifice and just make do. I paired it with a Canadian tuxedo for the first of my many outfits I promised myself I would wear it with. I felt a little thick (I hate that word) with my layers. My mom assured me it was fine and then we were off to find THE dress.

Shirt: Miley Cyrus (seriously, it's from Walmart and I'm not embarrassed)
Vest: TJ Maxx
Jeans/Jeggings: Forever 21
Boots: Steve Madden

By the way, my boots actually match my belt, but my camera doesn't take quality pictures.

Hot Wedding Shoes

Sooooo I DID IT!!! I finally said yes to a dress!! YAY!! I love my dress and I can't wait to wear it. Due to the "nature" of my dress it cannot be hemmed in alterations and must be ordered a certain length. This means I have to find my wedding shoes ASAP and bring them to the bridal salon to be measured with the dress on.

I definitely want something funky and fun! I also really want the bridesmaids to wear something really cute too. Maybe we will all wear the same. This is a little bit difficult since we haven't definitely chosen our colors yet.  Here's a look at some fun shoes I've found.

Bridesmaids, feel free to give me your opinions!

Lamb Gyros

This is my favorite meal! It's time consuming and has a lot of ingredients so we have only made it a few times, but its worth it every time. Several items can be substituted.

Dan and Ashley's Gyros

Lamb Marinade
1lb of lamb chops
1/4 c olive oil
5-10 garlic cloves crushed
1 lemon juiced
1tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
dash of hot paprika
couple drops of sriracha
dash of greek seasoning

Cut lamb meat off bones into small pieces. Mix together marinade and brush onto lamb. Feel free to use your own personal taste preference for the spices.

Cucumber Sauce
1 cup of plain yogurt
1 seeded cucumber finely chopped
2 tbsp chopped onion
1 clove of garlic crushed
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 lemon juiced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tbsp dill

Mix together in medium bowl. You will have plenty and may even want to cut the recipe.  It can be used as a dip as well.

Cook the lamb in a pan on the stove.

Meanwhile saute red peppers and onions with a small amount of olive oil.

Heat Pita bread on stove or in microwave.

Layer cucumber sauce, lamb meat, lettuce, onion and peppers with feta cheese on the pita.

Enjoy!!!

Bridal Accessories : Belt/Sash

Even though I don't have my dress yet I am already looking at accessories for the big day. I generally like to have an idea for the whole outfit and sometimes a great accessory can really make an outfit. I am taking this same approach with my wedding day attire.  I'm not sure what my fab accessories will be yet... Maybe a big chunky necklace, great sash/belt, sparkly brooch, or headband. So here's the first of my many accessory blogs. Let's talk belts (sashes)! Several dresses I have tried on come with a belt or sash and if they weren't included I have added one from the stores collection. I have even used headbands as a sash just to see the look. So needless to say, with my non-existent dress I'm leaning towards some type of belt.

Some recent celebrities who have worn sashes.

Some like it hot.

And by "some" I mean Dan and I. We add sriracha sauce to almost every recipe. It's amazing and you should try it!

Mom's Tex Mex soup

It should be known that my mom titles (re)titles every recipe as "Mom's" or "Amy's like she created it herself (maybe she did/maybe she didn't).  Ha Ha!  I plan to do the same, as I would like to think (take credit for)  every great recipe that I make. For this soup, we'll give her credit!

Mom's Tex Mex Soup
3 1/2 Cups of water
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 cup of tomatoes (I use a can of hot Rotel, because we like it spicy)
1 cup of mexi-corn
1 can of black beans (optional)
1/2 cup of parsley
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp chili powder
3/4 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
bay leaf
2-3 chicken breasts cooked and chopped (much easier to just use a rotisserie chicken)

Throw it all in a big pot and cook until boiling or to a temperature you desire.

Serve with chips, avocado chunks, and shredded cheese.

Enjoy!
