Early Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites
Jackets: Tuc and Wes // Zara // Nordstrom // Zara // Nordstrom
Accessories: ShopBop tassel necklace // Nasty Gal booties // Zara fringe bag // Nasty Gal booties // Ily Couture tassel necklace

It's not even August yet, but it's back to school time for retailors, which means fall fashion is popping up in stores and on fashion sites. I have to admit I have been a little bit more anxious for fall this year, due to my changing body (pregnancy) and the fact that none of my summer clothes fit anyway. I'm ready to move on, go shopping and start buying fall trends. So far I haven't found much in maternity sections that I really think is cute or trendy. It's all very bland and mostly not stylish. It's definitely going to be a challenge.

My current fall fashion plan is to wear blazers and jackets with cute shoes and accessories. Wish me luck finding jeans and work pants!

Baby Boy

We are not finding out the sex of our baby until it's born, so I have a lot of time to play the guessing game! I have always wanted a boy as a first child because I have an older brother and I think it's nice to have a boy as the oldest. I also think everyone is rooting for us to pass along the last name because Dan is the only boy with our last name in his family.

But then I see pictures of newborn girls and friends who have girls, and oh my gosh are they cute! I hope to have a girl as well, not just for dressing purposes but to have a relationship with like I do with my own mom.

Last week one of my friends had a baby boy and another friend announced she will be having a boy in January. I started to look at boy clothes online for gifts and I found out really quickly that dressing a boy might be just as fun! If we have a boy I will probably want to dress him similar to Dan. How cute are these little mini Dan clothes? I love it!

A few weeks ago I noticed several people I know on Facebook started "liking" the new business Roman & Leo. I checked it out on Facebook and their website and I can't wait to visit this new boutique in Fishers. Too cute! Check it out HERE.

Nordstrom Sale

Nordstrom Sale

Here are my favorite items from the Nordstrom sale. Everyone and their sister has Hunter boots, but if you don't, now might be a good time to purchase! I love this leather shift dress, if I knew it would fit me this fall I would be all over that! What I actually bought was a pair of Nike running shorts and Zella capri leggings, both in larger than my normal size. Gotta work on my fitness, but had to buy larger to continue doing so.

In other shopping news, my current obsession is summer shift dresses. Everything I own from summer's past has a waist that was cinched. I can't wear any of it because it's so uncomfortable for me and my growing waist line. I don't have a bump yet, but my waist disappeared last week. Here are my current favorites:

Shop my closet

Hey ladies! I'm cleaning out my closet to make some room and I thought I would offer these items to my readers before I sell them elsewhere. I love all of these items and some I've never even worn. Unfortunately, some of these don't fit me anymore and I know I will want new clothes next summer, when these may or may not fit again.

Please email me if you are interested in any of the items or have questions. I can provide further explanations and photos if necessary. Shipping is $5.00 unless you live in the Indianapolis area and we can arrange to meet up.

Nursery Ideas

It has been so fun looking for nursery ideas! I'm pleased to find that there are so many great ideas for gender neutral nurseries. I really like accent walls either painted or wallpaper. There are some really cool wall decals too that would make it so easy to change in the future.

My favorite accent walls

I really like the big letter! We'll have to wait until after the baby is born to find one since we won't know the sex/name.

How cute is this little garment rack? A definite must have if I have a girl! It would be cute for a boy too since we have limited closet space.

I also really like the idea of a bright dresser/changing table. I think it would be a fun pop of color and DIY project.

So many ideas, it's going to be hard (but fun) to narrow it down. I love looking online for ideas and can't wait to start the actual process. I'll keep you posted!

Thai Beef Lettuce Wraps

My friend Alison has the best recipes! I have posted a few of hers before. She sent me this after posting a picture on Instagram a few weeks ago and I made it shortly afterward. These wraps are delicious and could be altered in many ways adding or subtracting ingredients. The original recipe calls for water chestnuts, but I do not care for them and left them out.

Thai Beef Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:
1lb of ground beef or turkey
1/2 red pepper
head of lettuce
1 carrot or a handful of pre shredded carrots
Cilantro to taste
2 garlic cloves
2T Hoisin Sauce
2T Soy Sauce
2 tsp Sriracha sauce
handful of peanuts chopped

Directions:
Cut pepper into strips. Shred carrot. Chop cilantro.  Begin browning beef in a pan. Season with hoisin and soy sauce. Add sriracha if you prefer it spicy. Cook until no longer pink. Add garlic and continue cooking until completely brown. Add carrots and red pepper to the skillet.

Serve beef mixture topped with cilantro and peanuts in a lettuce wrap.

Enjoy!

4th Festivities

For the 4th we went to my parents lake cabin. It was such a fun day with friends and family! The weather was perfect and the food was amazing.

My niece Rye was the life of the party. She doesn't stop talking and everyone just fell in love with her.

 My mom and niece.

My parent's cabin at the lake. My mom made all the decorations.

Beautiful sunset! The fireworks were amazing, but it's impossible to get a good picture.

I hope you all had a great 4th as well!

Update

It has become increasingly difficult to keep up the blog lately and I apologize for that. I have been busy and traveling for work and pregnancy fatigue has hit me hard. Naptime has taken over my blogging time. Pregnancy and the 1st trimester has affected all the things I really enjoy, everything from drinking (obviously), to my workouts, cooking dinner, and sewing. All of which has affected blogging. Not only have I not had the time and energy but I have felt unmotivated. Cooking dinner has become a chore instead of something I enjoy, trying new dishes and menu planning. I'm at a loss with fashion and sewing. It's been something I have always been very obsessed with and now it's all changed. Shopping for a growing body is hard and emotional. Sewing for myself seems out of the question.

On the bright side, I think my fatigue and nausea is coming to an end with the 2nd trimester starting this week. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and I feel much better during the day! I hope all my energy returns and I can return to my normal self. I'm looking forward to better workouts and cooking healthy meals to share with you.

As for fashion and sewing, it's a hard adjustment for me. I feel sad and discouraged that I can't make myself the styles that I like and I can't buy trendy items because they just won't work with a bump. I'm determined to stay true to my style throughout pregnancy and I hope to post (probably to Instagram) maternity outfits.

Thank you to everyone for staying with me and following along. Thank you for all your well wishes on the pregnancy. Sometimes it still doesn't feel real! We are very excited and I will try to update you about the fun things like nursery design, maternity and baby fashion!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe 4th of July! It has always been my favorite holiday! I can't wait to share all my pictures next week!
