Seersucker Off the Shoulder Dress

There are so many cute off the shoulder dresses right now and I knew I could easily make one. I saw a few dresses I liked with stripes for inspiration and ended up going with striped seersucker fabric. I used the McCalls M6558 Pattern for this dress.

The pattern was very easy to follow. I used a 3/8" elastic instead of the 1/4" the pattern called for. I also shortened the skirt along with the bodice ruffle. If I use this pattern again, I will go down a size. I think it could be more flattering with a better fit and less fabric.

This was the initial bodice, but I ended up making the ruffle a little shorter. I wish I would have gone even shorter on it though.

Louisville

Dan and I spent the weekend in Louisville celebrating our anniversary. We wanted a little getaway, but not too far since it would be the first full weekend to leave Roman.

We stayed at the 21C Museum Hotel. The hotel was pretty cool with exhibits throughout the lobby and hallways. They also have a nice restaurant, Proof on Main, where we had brunch on Saturday.

My favorite art piece in the hotel.

We ate at Decca in the NuLu area on Friday night. It was really good! I would definitely recommend it.  They have a nice large outdoor patio and cool basement for drinks.

We also really enjoyed the Garage Bar. We went for drinks on Friday and then again on Saturday for lunch.

On Saturday afternoon we hit a few breweries in the Highlands area.

And then ate dinner at El Camino.

Fantastic burrito and tacos!

Exhibit at the hotel.

I was really impressed with Louisville and the different neighborhoods. It was a really fun weekend and nice time together exploring a new city.

Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites

1. I'm trying to find a reason to buy this adorable top and culottes. I wouldn't have anywhere to wear it, but I just love it!
2. How cute is this suede dress? Perfect for all. I can't believe it's from Forever 21! I'm tempted to purchase it, but it's $50, which seems high for Forever and if I didn't like it, then I'd only get store credit.
3. I've been eyeing this knit knotted dress from Urban all summer. Again, where would I wear it?

Nordstrom Sale

I'm sure every blogger you follow has already posted their favorite Nordstrom picks. I'm sorry for the redundancy but maybe I have a few things others haven't chosen to give you some fun ideas! I actually stopped by Nordstrom yesterday. I'm a proud cardholder and I walked in like a badass, only to join the crowd of other ladies in the good fight. Anyway, I tried on about 20 things before choosing a few that fit my post pregnancy body and budget.

You know I love the Zella leggings, so I picked up a pair of navy ones. I also bought this grey knit turtle neck dress. It's super soft and I think will transition well from summer to fall. I have already envisioned the many ways to style it. I tried on the green lace romper and it's really pretty! I saw a girl in the dressing room trying on the jean skirt. Yep, those are back in style. She looked really cute in it, but I wasn't sure I was ready to commit to that again.

For fall I would really like a pair of black distressed jeans and think that these black ones would be great since their such a steal! I can't wear them to work, so I don't want to spend the money on something really expensive. I also really like these olive green Rag and Bones jeans. Those are a little more expensive, but still a great price compared to what they normally are.

I have been eyeing these leather looking Spanx leggings for 3 years now and I think I'm going to finally buy them! I wish they had them in store to try on, so hopefully they will fit.  Looking forward to having those in my closet!

Last year when I was pregnant I really wanted a long vest to wear over dresses. I'm considering buying one this year. I really like the faux shearling one too!

I also picked up some new underwear. I bought these Honeydew ones and I love them! The back is so cute!

Some other items I'm still considering are the bags, nude Mac lip set, oxford flats and Sperry boots.

If you are looking to buy Hunter boots, now would be a good time since they are on sale. I believe only the black ones though.

What is everyone else buying? This sale always gets me excited for fall, which is what the weather feels like this week in Indy. Enjoy shopping!
