Little Red Party Dress

Inspired

I hate running. But, I had the best run of my life the day I designed this dress in my head. I was so excited just thinking about making this dress that I buzzed through my workout and ran further and faster than ever before! To date, this is my favorite dress I have ever made. I used my favorite sweetheart neck cocktail dress pattern and added the additional skirt. I used zipper trim and an exposed metal zipper in the back. I added a bib necklace to tie it all together. I wore this to a wedding in 2009.

First Dress

(Summer 2007) This is the first dress I made with my new sewing machine. Simple pattern, with no shape. So I added a belt!

Dresses

I have always loved dressing up! I don't think I wore a pair of pants until 2nd grade. My mom (and my inspiration) has always dressed me up for every occasion in dresses she made me. Every holiday or special occasion my sister and I (sometimes matching) had a new dress that my mom had made for us. In high school and college, my mom made my prom and formal dresses based off designs I liked.
As an adult, I still prefer to have a brand new outfit for every occasion (who doesn't?). So a few years ago I bought my own sewing machine and started sewing. Since then I have made several dresses for different occasions. I'm still learning and making lots of phone calls to my mom.
