If there is one trend you should try this year (if you haven't already) it's ankle boots! I have been on the lookout for a few years for the perfect pair. I think certain styles work differently on different body types. My current favorites are above, all under $100. I personally prefer a shorter ankle boot with a chunkier heel for comfort. As much as I would love to have the cutout and peep toe style, I don't think it's as functional for areas with cooler climates, as you wouldn't be wearing those in the snow.
